Cabo 2011 , days 6 & 7

The staff is getting in the Easter Bunny spirit! Church is the same everywhere. Even in another language you can hear the message of love and salvation. We discovered that our schools are in pretty good condition - compared to this school. Yes...happy hour is nap time! On Sundays, they close the main road to one direction of traffic and everyone comes out to ride bikes, skateboard, jog, walk and just have fun. Mickey's ship came for a visit, and we said goodbye to Paco. It's been a great week, but it's always good to get home again :-)

Cabo 2011, day 5

A swim in the ocean and then a fun sunset dinner cruise on the Caborey!  T his is the first time we've seen sand under the arch - some crazy people can walk right thru.  The surf was a little wild for our taste tho - learned our lesson landing the kayaks a few years ago :-)

Cabo 2011, day 4

If you listen to the first segment, you can hear the waterfall and the morning song we wake to.  Quite peaceful!  Today we spent the day at our sister resort Pueblo Bonito Sunset, which is on the Pacific side. Can't swim in the ocean here, but they have many pools and it was a nice quiet day. Another walk downtown and some shopping :-)

Cabo 2011, day 3

A water volleyball victory, some renegade pirates, more smoothies, Aunt Mary's ship (that will take her to Alaska!) a walk downtown and a great dinner of sea bass at Casa de Mazatlan (one of our favorite local haunts)...another great day in Cabo!

Cabo 2011 - day 2

Memory markers...

With Marion's birth so close to Easter, and Kaylee's just before that, Easter will be a great "memory marker" to watch how they grow! Aren't they just the sweetest bookends :-)  (of course Christmas is thrown in cause they're so stinkin' sweet!)

Cabo 2011

OK...Mike was probably right and this is a safe place to be!  We've been coming down for long enough that it feels like home.  Of course we always start at the Walmart Deli to stock the fridge and get lots of water :-)  Greg Norman is here again - maybe this year he'll  invite us out to tour that beautiful yacht! Just when you think you've seen everything the beach-vendors have to offer, along comes a pack-o-puppies!  And the first night's dinner provided a beautiful sunset and moonrise (is that a word?).

Easter Time

Our kids are the best! They make sure that we always have special time together :-) A wonderful dinner at Justin & Erin's - thank you! Lukas decorated eggs for the hunt and what fun they all had. Goy learned they weren't baseballs :-) Lukas wanted to go with us(the pic has crazy eyes, but the sentiment was so sweet I couldn't leave it out!) I.Pomise.Lukas - you're coming for a grampa & gramma overnight when we get home!

Love you guys!

A paraprosdokian a day...keeps you smilin'

Here's a fun e-mail forward...too fun not to share!  (does this count as a positive thought click, or ...?)

A paraprosdokian sentence consists of two parts, where the first is a figure of speech and the second an intriguing variation of the first. They're used typically for humorous or dramatic effect. Enjoy these!
Never argue with an idiot, he'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you, but it's still on the list.
If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.
We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.
Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit and wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand at the edge of a pool and throw fish.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
Women will never be equal to men till they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut and still think they're sexy.
A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.
You don't need a parachute to skydive, but you do need one to skydive again.
The voices in my head may be fake, but they have good ideas!
Hospitality is making your guests feel like they're at home, even if you wish they were.
I scream the same way whether I'm about to be eaten by a shark or seaweed touches my foot.
Some cause happiness wherever they go, others whenever they go.
There's a fine line between cuddling and holding someone down so they can't get away.
You're never too old to learn something stupid.
Keep smilin' and Happy Thursday !

April 11th...a day in history

Some dates seem so familiar, and then it hits you....
April 11, 1993 (Easter morning, no less) - nephew Jason is transported from Sacramento (in critical condition) to San Francisco (where they say "we've been waiting for you!")  Has gone on to serve a mission, earn his Master's degree, get married and is still the life of any party!
April 11, 1995 - Dad has a 6-way by-pass with no promises from the doc - we were blessed with 15 more wonderful years
April 11, 2011 - Pop has back surgery - success!  and today is sitting up laughing, visiting and ready to go!
So blessed are we on April 11th - I wonder what the future April's will bring!

What a difference a day makes...

We've had a really special weekend. Thanks, kids! The conference sessions were wonderful, Music & the Spoken Word was great. Enjoyed sunshine and snow!

Saturday, April 2, 2011

Conference day two...

 The renovated Tabernacle
The Conference Center
The free plaque they gave me at Ladies Night
They had Ladies Night at Deseret Book while Mike was at Priesthood Session.  I got to speak with Hilary Weeks - (click here for Hilary's page) she could be our friend!  Tomorrow's treat is that our tickets include Music and the Spoken Word.

Our cup runneth over!

Conference bound...

A gift of air tix from our kids...a sleepless night...a forgotten camera (but a phone camera will work too)...a smooth flight...a wonderful temple session...dinner with family - makes for the start of a special weekend!
Commemorating the restoration of the priesthood and my favorite priesthood holder :-)
What a smart way to help us cross these wide streets where there is no light!
Enjoying being on holy ground.
