#30 Thankful 4
I'm thankful for Plan B when Plan A doesn't work! I'm thankful for 30 days of celebrating what is good instead of seeing what is not good. I'm thankful for the next 31 Blessed Days :-)

Today I am thankful for good teachers and shared lessons! Thanks, Sue :-)
Anyone else often use the word grateful in place of thankful and then switch back? Nice sentiments, both!

Very thankful for Mike's safe arrival home. Marathon road trip from Eugene, via the coast to avoid the snow covered pass. Thankful for his staying awake (1:20am arrival) and other travelers minding their driving manners. I never take for granted the odds for mishap with so many miles traveled and am ever so grateful for his return home!

Wrapped water pipes! I'm thankful that when the weather turns cold, I still have running water - having experienced that great disappointment in years past of turning on the faucet to...nothing... I love running water and a working water heater! Happy showering everyone :-)

#23 Thankful 4
Today I am thankful for the words of others. For the things they help me see, for the things they help me remember. My friend is thankful for colors today and it helped me remember a poem (more words) and an idea that is important! Thank you - "others" for sharing your "words"!
“We are a box of crayons That don’t really get along,”
Said blue to all the others “Something here is wrong!”
Well, I bought that box of crayons And took it home with me
And laid out all the crayons So the crayons could all see.
They watched me as I colored with red and blue and green
and black and white and orange and every color in between.
They watched as green became the grass and blue became the sky.
The yellow sun was shining bright on white clouds drifting by.
Colors changing as they touched, Becoming something new.
They watched me as I colored. They watched till I was through.
And when I’d finally finished, I began to walk away.
And as I did the crayon box Had something more to say…
“I do like red!” said the yellow and green said, “So do I!”
“And blue you are terrific so high up in the sky.”
“We are a box of crayons each of us unique,
but when we get together the picture is complete.”
Said blue to all the others “Something here is wrong!”

*************
Wouldn’t it be terrible? Wouldn’t it be sad?
If just one single color was the color that we had?
If everything was purple? Or red? Or blue? Or green?
If yellow, pink, or orange was all that could be seen?
Can you just imagine how dull our world would be if
just one single color was all we got to see?

#21 Thankful 4
It's been said by others, but it's my turn to be thankful for technology and the connectedness it brings us. With such a large family spread out across the country its wonderful to be just a key-click away from 'being together'. When family needs arise its a blessing to be able to tell everyone at once, and to keep the updates coming from Texas to Arizona to Florida to Colorado to Nevada to California and even sometimes to Africa! Our prayers are with the Texas clan today...will be checking texts and emails often. Love you guys .

my other mom
I'm thankful for Fran! She has been my other mother since I was 16! She accepted me into the family and taught me good things...how to ski, how to pack a car/trailer/picnic basket (her cb handle was "handy packer"), she helped me care for my children, she gave me Mike, and so many other things. Thank you Fran, we love you!
To "His" Mother
"Mother-in-law" they say, and yet,
Somehow I simply can't forget
'Twas you who watched his baby ways,
Who taught him his first hymn of praise;
Who smiled on him with living pride
When he first toddled by your side;
And as I think of this today,
Me thinks that I'd much rather say
Just "Mother."
"Mother-in-law" but oh, 'twas you
Who taught him to be kind and true;
When he was tired, almost asleep,
'Twas to your arms he used to creep;
And when he bruised his tiny knee,
'Twas you who kissed it tenderly;
When he was sad you cheered him too,
And so I'd rather speak of you
As "Mother."
"Mother-in-law" they say, and yet,
Somehow I never shall forget
How very much I owe
To you who taught him how to grow,
You trained your son to look above,
You made of him the man I love;
And so I think of that today,
Ah! Then with thankful heart I'll say
"Our Mother."

Today I'm thankful for my mom, for the music she gave me; for teaching me I am a Daughter of God; for the love of nature she gave me, for the patience she has with me; for teaching me the importance of kindness; for teaching me to willingly give; for the sacrifices she makes for others; for showing me the value of children; for the love she has for each of us; for the beautiful woman she is; and a list too long to post here!Have a GREAT day, Mom. We love you!

MUSIC!
I'm thankful for the music around us, for the music in us, for the way music helps my heart to "hear" before my mind can "see"! Mike brought home a DVD concert last night and what a treat :-) Anyone else James Taylor or Carole King fans?

I love to travel, but there's nothing better than coming home again.
I think that's what it will be like when we return to our heavenly home, too!

Today I'm thankful for the opportunity to serve - I'm thankful my Heavenly Father has faith in me, I'm thankful for the growth it allows me, I'm thankful for the blessings it brings me and the chance to serve with friends is priceless!
"It may not be on the mountain height
Or over the stormy sea,
It may not be at the battle's front
My Lord will have need of me.
But if, by a still, small voice he calls
To paths that I do not know,
I'll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in thine:
I'll go where you want me to go."

#4 is definitely Friends! They are better than therapy...they teach me, listen to me, laugh with me, and I'm a better person because of them. To all my friends, have a wonderful day!

Thankful 4...
Following my friends' examples, November will be my month of thankfulness too! I don't usually post daily, but I do check in so should be easy - right? And since my cup runneth over I should have plenty of gratitude to fill the days :-) So, catching up
#1 - I'm SO thankful for Mike - he is my best friend, my eternal companion, my "knight in shining armour" my travel guide and adventure-seeker. He takes such good care of our family and treats me like royalty. I am able to do what I do because of his support. Not only that but he's got great charisma and is a really fun date!!!
#2 - I'm thankful for my children. I always wanted a bigger family and when they got married they doubled my parenting fun! They're fun to be with and gave me #3...
#3 - I'm thankful for my grandchildren. They are each unique and bring a new kind of fun to the family. They love grampa and gramma lots and it warms our hearts! They give me an excuse to get on the floor and play and we all need a little more playtime!
So - now it's your turn...what are you thankful for???
